An event every week that begins at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, repeating until October 11, 2022
Each season we will gather for four weeks on Tuesday evenings from 5:30pm-7:30pm to explore the interconnected relationship between the garden and the kitchen. Over four weeks, we will learn from Farmer Brandon how to cultivate healthy soil and care for our crops through the techniques specific to each plant, with the goal of inspiring and equipping us to tend our own gardens at home.
As part of our exploration, we will participate in the traditional yet radical activity of gleaning: that is, gathering ingredients from our community farm that would otherwise go to waste. With Chef Perla, we will take these ingredients into the kitchen for a true farm-to-table experience, foraying into ferments, preservation, and other methods that transform these ingredients into new healthy and delicious products.
Our first farm-to-table workshop takes place during the magical change of season from summer to autumn, starting on September 20th and continuing each following Tuesday for four weeks (9/27, 10/4, and 10/11). This program is open to anyone 15 years and older. (We encourage our younger Villagers to check out our Rad! Traditions after-school program for Autumn: The Dried Flower Project and The MILPA Project.)
The price is $200 for 4 weeks and includes a take-home culinary treat, recipes, and new gardening knowledge for your backyard, side yard, and patio endeavors.
