Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing suitable for gardening in the outdoors. We recommend you bring a garden hat, sunscreen and a reusable water bottle/canteen.

We will be taking pictures and possibly video to use on our website, social and other educational media, and by registering for this festival you agree to our photo/video release policy.

You’re invited to celebrate Earth Day at The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center in Carlsbad. Join us for a memorable and immersive festival experience for your entire family. We hope this is the first year of a great new tradition!

If you spend your Earth Day with us, you’ll be in good company. Many families from the surrounding area are expected to come out for a day of community building, skills sharing, and garden bounty.

Simple solutions make big change. What will inspire you this Earth Day?

A full day of backyard skills workshops. Please pre-register for any workshops you’d like to participate in (free registration is mandatory to participate in the workshops).

  1. Backyard Composting. 10:30 – 11:30
Learn how to build and maintain healthy organic soil using your kitchen scraps and yard waste.
  2. Organic Container Gardening, 11:45 – 12:45
Learn how to grow your own herbs and vegetables with limited space using boxes, pots, and other containers.
  3. Quick Pickling, 1:00 – 2:00
Learn a simple way to turn the season’s surplus veggies into year-round eats with simple household ingredients.

We’re setting a community table for everyone! Bring a fresh lunch made with seasonal ingredients to enjoy amongst friends and neighbors. We’ll provide seasonal drinks and snacks to supplement your communal feast in the garden.

Create take-home eco crafts including seed balls and block printing your own Earth Day pledge postcard.

Plus live music by Sean Donohue and DIY bird houses with Home Depot!
