Please wear closed-toe shoes and clothing suitable for gardening in the outdoors. We recommend you bring a garden hat, sunscreen and a reusable water bottle/canteen.
We will be taking pictures and possibly video to use on our website, social and other educational media, and by registering for this workshop you agree to our photo/video release policy.
First Saturday festivities at The Ecology Center are a monthly opportunity for inspiration. Visit our abundant gardens for a tour of the farm, connect with our expert team during our Eco-Design Open Studio, and check out Bread Artisan Bakery’s pop-up bread stand.
Eco-Design Farm Tour – 10:00 am
Throughout The Ecology Center’s learning landscape, we’ve designed spaces to model simple yet impactful solutions.
Join us for a guided tour of our historic home, built by pony express rider Joel Congdon in 1878. Over the last 8 years, we have transformed the land surrounding the Congdon house into a thriving learning landscape. We’ve carefully designed our spaces to serve as a model for sustainable solutions everyone can enact in their own lives and homes.
Porch Sale – 11:00 am
Select items from the Tools for Change shop will be on sale, ranging from 20% to 45% off! Don’t miss out, as these don’t happen often. Find all items for sale out on our porch starting at 11:00 am, following the tour. FYI: Priority for porch sale items will be given to those who are on the tour.
Eco-Design Open Office – 11:00 am
Come in to get advice and troubleshoot your garden challenges with our team of Eco-Designers. Eco-designers and community experts will be on hand to help you find answers to your garden questions, and suggest simple solutions to improve the sustainability of your landscape.
Artisan Bread Pop-Up Shop – CANCELED
Our Bread Pop-Up Shop for July has been canceled. Join us again next month on August 5th as Bread Artisan Bakery returns to The Ecology Center for our monthly sale.
Bread Artisan Bakery, a local family owned and operated wholesale bakery, is returning to The Ecology Center for their ever popular pop-up bread sales.
Bread Artisan Bakery takes unique pride in their craft, using centuries-old traditions to naturally leaven the bread with local organic grains (special for The Ecology Center), and a long fermentation to develop the flavor and texture.
Supplies are limited.
