Summer brings abundance to your garden, but it comes with its own series of challenges. With a few basic steps and extra care, you can keep your garden healthy and productive all summer long. With the right approach to caring for your summer garden, you can work smarter – not harder.

Most pests and diseases are at their peak during the summer, and plants need support to stay healthy. If you can keep your garden healthy, you can grow anywhere from 2 to 6 pounds of delicious, organic food per square foot during the summer months.

Topics covered in this hands-on class:

  • Replenishing your plant’s nutrients
  • Conserving water while keeping your plants hydrated
  • Keeping pests and disease at bay
  • Pruning and trellising
  • Growing tender greens
  • Reviving a raised bed

Each participant will take home a sample of compost from The Ecology Center.
