Reduce energy and water consumption on laundry day. Make every load count by washing full!

Did you know

Almost 90% of a wash machine’s energy consumption is used just to heat the water. To eliminate energy consumption completely on laundry day, try hand washing. If the thought of breaking out the washboard and bucket for a family of four makes you laugh, remember to wash full loads only. It’s simple to do your part in saving energy and using less water.

Here’s how

To brighten colors and remove stains, skip the store-bought stain removers and use vinegar or baking soda added to the laundry cycle.
Retrofit your wash machine to disperse greywater to your garden or use a bucket with greywater to hand wash your delicates. Make sure you’re using biodegradable soap that the garden will love!

  • Adjust your washing machines setting to wash full loads. Take caution not to overload your machine and compromising it’s efficiency.
  • If possible, wash with cold water to avoid the added energy costs of hot water.
  • Add biodegradable detergents that work well in lower temperatures.
  • Use a clothesline or indoor drying rack to dry
